CAST CALLS

Studio Theatre, 141 S Wellwood Ave, Lindenhurst, auditions for The Andrews Brothers, a jukebox musical by Roger Bean (The Marvellous Wonderettes) on Tues, Jan 17 and Wed, Jan 18 from 7-10pm. Callbacks, if necessary, on Thurs, Jan 19. The show runs March 24 through April 21, 2012 with no shows on April 6, 7 and 8.

Prepare 32 bars of a 1940's type song. Be prepared to dance.

Age range 20's - youthful early forties. Looking for 3 musically talented actors who can be believable as The Andrews Sisters and one actress who can sing (intricate harmonies) and dance well.

The characters:

  • Max Andrews - Baritone/Bass. Maxine Andrews' counterpart. His 4F ailment is flat feet. He is the stage manager and attempts to remain in charge in the face of total disaster. When nervous, Max taps his foot incessantly, leading to a large tap solo in Act II.
  • Lawrence Andrews - Tenor. Laverne Andrews' counterpart. His 4F ailment is incredibly poor eyesight. Wears thick glasses. When nervous, Lawrence laughs nervously, sometimes on the verge of giggling.
  • Patrick Andrews - Baritenor - Patty Andrews' counterpart. His 4F ailment is asthma. He stutters throughout Act I, and sings lead in Act II - front and center as Patty. When nervous, Patrick wheezes heavily.
  • Peggy Jones - Mezzo-Soprano. A cross between Betty Hutton and Betty Grable, Peggy is a WWII pin-up girl and she longs to show everyone she's more than jusy another pretty face. Warm, loving and sincere.

Synopsis: It's 1945 on a South Pacific island, and a USO show is threatened with cancellation when headliners for that night's performance, The Andrews Sisters, have been held in quarantine in Hawaii. It's up to three earnest and determined 4F, stagehand brothers to go on with the show! Mistaken identities and madcap adventures abound--imagine Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in a road movie of Some Like It Hot--along with '40s music.
